“The mural is inspired by the sea side landscapes. Long lines of uninterrupted shore, seagulls, lighthouses, faraway clouds, seashells, stones, small bushes on the sand, sun beds. We see some occasional abstract shapes that represent urban structures and buildings in the horizon. All of these elements are illustrated in a sketchy fluid style that is easy on the eyes and leaves a big room for the viewer's imagination to fill in the gaps, of missing color,and maybe ...sounds.” -LamaKD
Nikki Beach Hotel had me draw over their new, pristine walls with a marker. A monochrome mural with flowing hand-drawn illustration span across the corridors leading to guest rooms, found floor/ 1st /2nd/3rd floors also in the hotel’s restaurant Cafe Nikki where I drew a market scene.
The drawing takes the guest on a journey by the seaside, inviting them to ease into the carefree, summer vacation feelings and let go of the weight of the world from the minute they walk in the lobby corridor leading up to the rooms. They can almost smell the sea and hear the seagulls calling. Compelling the guest to forget the daily lives and lose them selves in an unforgettable stay.
The concept drawings were required for client sign off before developing final artwork. so I’ve started with a digital sketch that I later drew on the walls.
